That is a very broad question. Part of the answer is who is doing the fighting. I assume you mean America and some allies versus some other nation(s)?
If you mean America, as I think you do, then the following observations should be noted. First, the United States has the only deep water navy in the world that is capable of moving large numbers of troops, machinery, planes, etc anywhere in the world in a relatively short time. Second, America has the largest air force in the world, with the most mobile bases (air craft carriers, landing fields in other nations) in the world. Only one nation is probably better at aerial combat, Israel. But they are a stauch ally. Third, America does not have the largest standing Army (even North Korea has a bigger army), but we have the best armed army in the world.
In all honesty, I do not believe there is any real probability of anyone going to war with us. If, for example, North Korea was really serious, why have they not shot missiles, or sent troops to the US? Because they have almost no navy, and even less of an airforce.
And before you say "what about nuclear weapons," remember that the former Soviet Union, now bankrupt and disorganized, was our only serious threat. That enemy could have easily destroyed much of our country, while we did likewise to them. But they are no longer in any condition to fight anyone. So, who do you think we would fight? There is no other nation ready to conduct more than terrorist raids on their neighbors, such as Lebanon and Israel.
No, I do not subscribe to a fear of an eminent third world war. Consider the facts, and don't join the fear, hate and war mongers

It depends on what your definition of "survive" is. I for one and a Christian and know where I am going after the world ends.

I think a few people will be around, we're a versitile species. Our civilization will not be so lucky. So many of us are specialized, we couldn't survive long enough to find others who have the skills we lack.
