I feel like this is a bit of deja vu! I am 27 year old female traveling alone this coming Friday to Greece!
I booked my vacation through Contiki (www.contiki.com). They specialize in vacation travel for 18-35 year olds. They offer travel for the single individual.
After much travel independently all over the U.S., I guess my biggest advice is just be aware of your surroundings. Use your head and be smart about what you want to do and when.

Since its summer time I would suggest visiting some beach locations such as acapulco (mexico), brazil. u may also want to check on the weather. I heard it rains during this time of the year in the carribean.
I read here and I agree with the poster that its tricky and potentially dangerous to go with a stranger. Maybe the person you go with is good but you will never know. Since you are a female you need to be extra careful too. You can also go with a group so that you can be somewhat secure. I wish I could come along but I'm held up at work. Grrrrr.....lol.
