Remember during the first Live Aid, Bono's buddy, Bobby Geldoff looking at the cameras and shouting at us, Joe Public, to dig deep into our pockets and give as much as we can. Cheeky sod. The money he saved on not buying soap and shampoo over the years would have kept a small African village from starvation for ages.
Just think of all that money charities would get if all Premiership footballers donated a weeks wages.

There is some validity to what the asker is saying.
Yes, Bono does do a lot... much more than most... but he is in a position where he could do a lot more.
I give what I can, I sponsor a family in Africa, but believe me, it does change what I can give MY children. I would say that Bono - and most of the household names we all know - could give away their entire yearly income for this year AND NOT HAVE IT IMPACT UPON THEIR LIFESTYLE !
Of course it will not happen, but what an impact that would have if it did ! And hopefully it swould spread... Bono could be challenging the rich around him, his record companies, mTV etc, to pony up the cash to really 'make poverty history'...
But Histrionics, not History, gets ratings...

Oi, oi, leave Bono alone; at least he's using his celebrity status to spread awareness. Awareness is something needed at the moment so no-one forgets that Africa is in desperate need of everything... this can only be solved by our political leaders banding together and giving our African cousins the same privileges and chances that they would give their own people.

Bono seems to be doing the Howard Hughs thing, now. Got so much, it's confusing.

Bono Rulz!!
He doesn't have to put himself on the line for these charities...he could just make music and be rich.
I give him credit!!!

Stupid ignorant question - the guy does more with his life than you ever will.
Do you just try to knock people because they stand up for something thats a real issue for all of us? The guy gives up lots of his time and wealth to the causes he believes in - rather than being some waster of a rockstar like so many others.
If you dont think this is a real issue for everyone then you are even more ignorant than your question suggests

C'mon. Like Bono is gonna give up his cash. He'd rather stay in the spotlight bit**ing about how WE haven't done enough.
