8-x=5, then 8-5=3, then x=3.
5*3=15 and 7*3=21, the only even numbers between the two are 16,18, or 20. Of these, only 16 has a square root of 4, and is an even, whole number.
I hope this is clear to you?

x is an even no. between 15 and 21 and is also a square.

Think: The even nos. between 15 and 21 are 16, 18, and 20, but the only one of three that is a square is 16 (16 = 4 squared). So 16 is your answer.

out of these only 16 is a square number as 4x4= 16

THINK may not be the best advice. DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK . Keep a large posterboard, go back to the beginning of your book find the presentation of the rules. They are always presented in a consistent and easy to see manner , highlighted or in a box at the top of the page at the beginning of each section ... Put all of the rules on your posterboard so you don't have to keep looking back for how things work ,Keep all these rules right in front of you as you do your work and you will be amazed at how smart you are! Keep adding to the rules as you go , there are probably more than you expect so write clearly and orderly.

16.
4*4=16
16 is the only number out of these three which is a square number. The other two don't have a natural square root
