The American media has been controlled by the liberals for decades. Their policies is to ALWAYS put a liberal point of view first to the general public. Outside of the fact that people like Katie Couric have been artfully placed into a key position with CBS, only proves that the trend will continue indefinitely. The New York Times, perhaps the most irresponsible publication in the United States has proved time and time again it loyalty to left wing causes. They found no shame in Bill Clinton's escapade but saw no problem in releasing classified information that was treasonous to America. And the list goes on..................

Let me take a stab at this one...Larry Page and Sergey Brin, David Filo and Jerry Yang, Billy Gates, Barry Diller and maybe mix in a Ted Turner and some Craig Dubow and you've got a good slice of the American media pie. We can no longer live without aggregators and this mix does a nice job of both providing and aggregating.
Policies? Not sure but Mr. Gates was just given a whole lot more power (nice tax break Warren).

It would be well to look at the ownership of the media and you might find that both in the telecasting media and printed press that are controlled by racial groups...without specifying which countries but you might notice that the Film industry falls towards the Orient and the newscasters seem to share a certain religious affliation. Their policies are hard to fathom but the underlying principal is making money and that means producing polemic headlines and sensational stories.

They are owned by Ying-Yang and whoever becomes whatever.
Their policies seem to be a move to gain absolute control over anything they wish by corrupting the intent of the First Amendment to satisfy what they are doing.
According to the MEDIA, everything is a form of SPEECH, therefore it is protected under the First Amendment:
When a person burns the flag , he is making a statement and he is protected.
If we extend that we should be able to say, "When a man murders an official, he is making a statement and is protected by the First Amendment"
It's all hogwash.

Big Company's like Disney and General Electric own the Media, and there policies are to make money by any means necessary.
They also run the government a help shape our policy's to help them make more money. Basically is comes down to making money just like anything else. WAR, NEWS, POLITICS, non of this would get done with out money. Keep that in mind and you will have the answer for why our Government does everthing that it does.

I dont mean to sound like a hippie when I say this, but a select few corporations like Newscorp and Viacom own the media, and, unfortunately, ratings seem to be more important to them than accuracy and journalistic integrity. America seems to be headed in the wrong direction, and much of it is thanks to the feces that Americans watch at night under the impression that it is the news.
