OH!!! The terrible 2's!! The iguana goes through an aggressive stage which some of us like to call the terrible 2's. Alot like a toddler they behave badly for about 1 to 2 years many a pet owner has given up on their buddy not knowing this will subside. Its like having a teenager in the house!! Keep talking to it and give it some space. Think how teens just love when parents invade their space.

Handle your Ig more. a couple hours a day if you can. this should help if it keeps up hold on to them even more. they really need to get used to you, and the only way to do that is to make sure that they know who you are and that you are not going to hurt them. also thats why they bite and slap you, its b/c they are scared and that is the only thing that they can do to try and relieve the situation to make you go away. I have gone through this just recently and have some scars to prove it as well. so best of luck to you and if you need any other help with your iguana you can always e-mail me at xrose_of_shyronx@yahoo.com.

Iguanas naturally can be aggressive towards their handlers, especially the male iguanas. My suggestion is to just leave your pet alone for awhile, and when you need to handle it, move slowly and talk to it in a soft voice. This does help to calm the iguana down for awhile.

i have had this experience. wear welding gloves, and the only fix is to actually handle it more! eventually it will settle down if you show it you are not a threat, but then again, iguanas have different personalities just like people do, if you can't put up with it, best to go get something you can handle like a baby iguana

i really have no idea how to make it stop...i've never heard of this sort of thing happening.

how long have you had your iguana? and has it always done this to you?
try asking someone that works in a pet store...or go back to where ever you got the iguana and ask them.

an iguana simply bites and snaps because its simply using self defense. Invest into a leash for it that way it knows that your in control not him.
