the sience behind it is that in order to cool down to normal body temp it is best to drink water which will bring your temperature as close to 98.6 degrees F as possible without dropping it down more than that....the reason being is that drinking water which will cool your body to optimum regular temperature exerts no energy on the body. on the other hand drinking ice cold water drops the inside of your body's temp below 98.6 degrees and your body has to exert energy in order to warm the liquid in your body back up to regular body temp. as far as water is concerned on the molecular level, the H2O molecules move faster in warm water than in cold water...meaning they will be absorbed into your body faster with warm water, than cold water, because the the atoms of the molecules are moving faster. However....it depends on what you're drinking the water for... simply drinking cold water alone can help you loose weight because your body has to exert stored energy to warm it like i mentioned before.....if you were to drink about 40 glasses of ice warer a day...every day for a year....with no exercise, the energy your body would have to use to heat the water up to your normal body temperature would cause a weight loss of about 3 pounds.

Luke warm water will be absorbed into your blood quicker, making it available to sweat out sooner.

Also, if the drink is too cold, your body will have to generate a bit of heat to restore stability of temperature around the stomach and other areas.

It's not better at all really. Drinking a warm drink will make you feel instantly cooler as it makes you produce more sweat. It's not better for you in hot weather generally. Drink cool drinks - water preferably - as you won't dehydrate.

Because when you drink something cold, it shocks your inner organs. It causes your body to pretty much freak out and work hard to make the water warmer so it can go through your system. When you drink lukewarm water it makes you more comfortable and it's not hurting your insides..

The drink will make you so hot that the day feels cooler compared with it.

i heard (and im probably wrong) but a warm drink stays in your body longer, cooling down and such keeping you hydrated longer, least thats what i learnt in science in school

yeah, because the hot/warm drink starts compairing with your body temp, and because it is warmer than your body, you will feel colder...atleast, thats my guess >.<

I dont agree......a cold drink will lower your core body temperature... a hot drink would only raise it and make you hotter.

Your body seeks statis, so when cold enters it, it wants to heat up to maintain its temperature.
