Not to create a racial conversation, but why do white people despise blacks so much? I don't get it!!?!?!?

I've seen a couple of rude comments about african americans when reading answers to questions and it amazes me that people still have such feelings about another race. What did black people do that was so wrong that some whites still hate to this day? Help me understand.

Not all of us are like that. Some of us actually can see beyond skin color and see the person inside. Some of us enjoy the diversity of different people, whether they are African American, Hispanic, or whatever. Some of us look for the good in people, some of us have good, close friends whose skin is darker than ours, good friends we love dearly and will fight for.

Some of us are saddened and hurt, and angry as well, when stupid, uneducated rednecks make ignorant, racist remarks without regard to the feelings of others and we wish it would stop.


Some of us believe that our Creator gave us all red blood running through our veins and a soul that will one day live either in Heaven or Hell, and there will be no discrimination in either place.

Some of us refuse to limit our knowledge to our own culture, and enjoy learning more about other cultures because we feel that life is just too short and the world would be such a dull and boring place if we were all white.

Some of us hope the world will one day be a place where people of all colors can live together and love each other as we are supposed to do.

Some of us hope that someday, "some of us" will be "all of us".

I'm sorry, but in reading the answers to this question I couldn't resist throwing my two cents into the ring. First off, I would love to address the woman who claims that the reason "white people" are researching cloning and "moon colonies" is because "we" (being white) don't reproduce the same way "other races" do, i.e naturally.
That is by far and away the most ignorant thing I have read and I really do feel pity for you if that is what you truly believe. You might do well by picking up a book once in awhile and reading up on anthropology to avoid sounding like a complete bigot. Yes, "white" people are not having as many children as other nations, but you see...there is a very good reason for that. First off, as a country begins to become more westernized/industrialized the birth rate drops as it does not take as many children to maintain a family unit as it would in an agricultural society. This is true for any industrialized nation. The reason nations like China and India have overwhelming populations is because until recently, a large percentage of their population was rual/agriculturally based (as far as I know) and therefore, the more children you have the better off you are. Everyone loves free labour. With Western nations however, we are largely urbanized society in which having more then one or two children is an astronomical burden and prevents finanicial success. As a result, the native population growth(which is a white majority) eventually becomes stagnent and might even decline, in which case minorities from other countries immigrate to fill this gap, but the funny thing about this is that once these immigrants come here...they often have 4 or 5 children but THEIR children, might only have 1 or 2 as they become westernized. A perfect example would be that my Grandmother, who was Dutch, came from a family of 12 children...and when they immigrated to Canada after World War 2, she ended up having 6 children, but HER 6 children only had an average of 2-3 children each. So please, despite what you might be inclined to believe, there is no secret white consipriacy to move to moon colonies where we can be free of people with slightly different coloured skin.

I was talking to my husband about this just yesterday. When a black person steals from a store or (as was on tv which provoked this conversation) trys to sell Coke's secret everyone seems to attribute it to the fact they are black or at least make a mental not of it. This a lot of times reflects on the entire race and even black people admit to that. HOWEVER when white people have crazies like Jeffery Daumier(I don't know if that is spelled right) the entire white race isn't accused of being psychopaths! All black people did in our history was stand up for themselves. Demand to be treated as they should. Crime in black neighborhoods may be greater but those neighborhoods are also poverty stricken.... why aren't we doing something about that!? That would solve that problem. The only valid reason for hating a person because of the color of their skin is ignorance... and that is no excuse.

I have not seen that yet. But Ignorance is the reason. Being a white male in Oregon I think 2% black population. I have always had friends that were black all my life. From Patrice my locker buddies in high school to today. One thing people don’t get it is just science why your skin is black as mine is white (actually I have a good tan right now does that count for something?)… Just DNA from your ancestors just like people from the orient. All the same and we all have red blood one heart one mind.. too bad some don’t use them.

I believe the actually hate of someone else purely based on race has largely gone away, this of course does not apply to everyone or every group but as a generalized statement about America I think it's true. Stereotyping however is still a large problem and people still tend to categorize people and not give them a chance. This is a problem for all people and races. We tend to automatically assume the worst of people just because of the way they look.

This is based solely on stereotypical emotions that are influenced by news media such as CNN in order to obtain higher ratings. For example, when a car is stolen and the hijackers are caught, if there is more than one, it is more than likely that the non-Caucasian will be portrayed first and more in-depth. This has nothing to do with the overall common nature of the common man.

White people hate Black people because they are not Black. Please read the "Isis Papers" by Dr. Francis Cress Welsing. She taps into the psychology of racism which is a white superiority complex rooted in a deep fear of genetic anniliation (sp?).

Keep in mind that whites are the minority on the planet and the 10 to 1 ratio is growing rapidly. Why do you think they spend so much time in the laboratory testing cloning and trying to set up colonies in outerspace. Trust me, they don't plan on taking people of color to those colonies. Just other whites and their technology to reproduce since they don't reproduce the way we do naturally.

whites feel that Blacks are the biggest threat to their survival but at the same time envy the dominant genes that are within us: 0 blood type, curly hair, dark skin and dark eyes.

it is all about power and the ability to control other peoples thoughts and minds. if the "white race" seems to despise blacks is really to tell blacks-including me-that we are not worth anything to them and to make us feel bad about ourselves and our culture. perhaps they are jealous, that our culture is now main stream and everyone loves hip hop. who knows....i say to the people with racist behavior that they are ignorant and haven't been exposed to other cultures rather than their own. many people are closed minded and often go on stereotypes that are not fact based. instead of being angry, i let it go and try to tell them that the racist stereotypes are not true and try to get them to understand that there is no reason for the actions that they execute on other people not just blacks. black people didn't do anything wrong. its a mind thing. think about it. if you were in high school and someone started a rumor or bad mouthing you that person more than likely is jealous. don't worry about it, i don't. if you want to do something you can and say that's not right. always stand up for what you believe in.

Maybe because blacks are trouble makers far out of proportion to their numbers in society.
Blacks are just over one tenth of the population. But what proportion of drug dealers are black ?
Same for car thiefs, store robbers, gang killings .
Let's hope that someday most blacks will start listening to Bill Cosby and take command of their lives. Join the human race.
