But seriously, having good taste comes from having good sense. Define qualities that a person has, that make people say that that person has good taste. They make choices that fit their lifestyle, their personalty, They know that buying something of quality might last longer, perform better than something cheap.They choose clothing that fit, of a color that is flattering, that is appropriate for the occasion they are buying it for.Great taste means you dress in a style appropriate for your age group and weight. They would know a 40 year old overweight woman would not look good in a halter top and miniskirt. They choose a hairstyle the same way. It flatters their face, it is appropriate to go to work, it might be easy care so to have more time for the kids.
A person with good taste would know what the current fashion trends are, and select things from the list that fit them.
You know you have good taste from other people telling you that you have good taste. And your knowledge of good taste tells you if they have good taste enough to know if you do. Ha.
It's in the eye of the beholder, however sets themself up as the expert. The media now tells us what is in good taste. They ae not necessarily correct. A magazine would tell you about style, and push the style of their advertizers.

I have moderate, kind of bland taste when it comes to fashion. I'm the one in basic t-shirts and jeans. Or maybe a nice pair of sleek black pants with a nice tank and black knee boots.
When it comes to food though, I have excellent taste. I love going to a new restaurant and critiquing all the items I've never heard of before.

Honest answer? "Yes and no". I believe i have good taste in some things.....and i have it on good authority that i have dreadful taste in others.
So does that mean there is hope for me? Or am i a lost cause, and sinking fast?

Yes, cause I would never learn to appreciate heavy metal music. The guitar and drums are cool. Its the messages (or lack of them) that I dont care to understand.

No. I wear whatever is comfortable. I buy whatever is cheapest and I don't care what everyone else says. I'm 41 and don't need the approval of everyone else. Makes life easier that way.
