Go to the www.turtletimes.com forums. If you know the species of turtle, you are bound to get an answer.

Also, if what you had was a water turtle, not a tortoise, it would have had to live in an aquarium with a pump and filter and many gallons of water.

Tortoises/turtles who are brought in from the wild instead of raised from hatchlings in captivity also have intestinal parasites that can be fatal if their natual diet is disrupted and they are being fed commercial food.

Good luck.

Turtle are very hard to care for. Most pet turtles are not care for correctly and end up dying. I would do some research and look at some care sheets for the kind of turtle you had and see if you were providing everything the turtle needed. This is a good site with lots of info.

What cleaning agent did you use to clean the enclosure? What kind of turtle was it and what was it's diet? How long did you have it before its death?

Well, maybe it just died of old age, like humans. If it was young it is possible that it had a disease of heart failure. I'm sorry for your loss.
