I have NO IDEA what snoop-dogg or any of that type of rap is talking about. They speak so fast you can't understand them, the "song" is 45 minutes long and no less than 15 black guys walk around grabbing their crotch and saying "yeeeyeah". I remember Tone Loc, Run DMC, Will Smith who actually rhymed words that you could decipher and the song was around 3 minutes long.

Whenever I see a rapper on t.v. that blabs 100 words a second, flicks his wrist and fingers in front of the camera, I take that as a sign to get up and go to the bathroom. White people call this "talent" because they are too embarrassed to call it what it is.

That's what happens when things are too hot.

Like the Spice Girls, and Britney Spears...RAP was HOT.

So after your hot the only place you can go is NOT SO HOT.

Watch and witness, My guess is that the new era of music will be labeled hip-hop.

Rap won't last as a genre becasue not all rap songs contain all rap. Rap is just a part of the vocals. There are a lot of other components of the music like the melody and the beat that will naturally evolve into new music.

Dude you answered the question yourself. The Rap pioneers like LL Cool J, Run Dmc, Sugarhill Gang, Melle Mel, Grandmaster Flash etc actually did have talent. Alot of these new guys are just wannabees.

Tone Loc....humm don't know bout that!

Couldn't agree more with you, except for that crack about 'white people', etc. I call most of it crap or junk; and there are a lot of white rappers by the way. There are a few rappers out there that have something to say when they tone it down and just deliver the message and add a good tune - example: Black Eyed Peas - "Where is the love?"

There has been some amazing rap music produced over the years.

Anyone with ears could tell you that.

However, the "gangsterization" of rap of the past 10-15 years has diminished its power quite a bit. Whether or not rap survives the test of time will be based almost solely on its ability to move out of its "gangsta" rut and on to other (more life-affirming) expressions.

I only like some rap (Petey Pablo's "Raise Up" comes to mind), and it's not garbage. It is a form of musical art and if you don't enjoy it don't listen to it.
