Acne can be reduced by washing regularly. Once in the morning and once at night, most dermatologist will tell you--and remember to use a very mild, oil-free soap. Harsh soaps and washes will dry out your skin and cause more irritation than they might be worth.
Acne can be prevented by using oil-free moisturizers. In case you haven't already made the connection, oils in most moisturizers tend to clog up pores, not allowing your perspiration to escape, causing acne break outs.
Fabric softeners can cause acne, so don't use them except on articles of clothing that don't contact the face. Fabric softeners on bedding, towels, and wash clothes often leave acne-causing oils on your face. Try to buy high thread count cotton sheets for a more comfortable bedding that doesn't require fabric softener.
Clean fabrics help to fight acne. Oils tend to gather on towels and sheets, so wash those articles as often as possible. Some laundry deterrgents can cause skin irritation as well, so try to buy detergents that are hypo-allergenic.
Wiping away excess perspiration will help stop acne. If you're active during the day and you are perspiring a lot, keep a hanky or a cloth handy (unsoftened) to wipe away excess oils and dirt.

I had really bad acne as a teen, nothing I did seemed to help. I washed my face six times a day, used everything on the market, stayed away from sweets, nothing worked. What finally helped was a visit to the dermatologist. There are several medicines available with a prescription that will clear acne up very quickly, and it won't come back. Accutane was very effective for me, but it may have side effects, such as depression. Still I would ask a dermatologist or doctor about Accutane or some other medicine. You will be cleared up within a few weeks. Just be careful not to wash your face to often or too harshly, it only makes it worse.

i am a proactiv user, and have been for years. i've never known anyone that it didn't work on....
make sure you use it regularly, twice a day. if its too drying, get a gentle cleanser and use that instead once a day.
DO NOT SKIP MOISTURIZER - if you do, you're oil gland will produce more oil than they already do. Yikes!!
Don't rub too hard with the cleanser
use ALL the steps ALL the time
don't wash more than twice a day...rinse with water if you have to.
if you try all this, or you have been doing this, you might have roscea (sp) and i'm not sure if proactiv is supposed to work on that.
oh yeah! make sure your make up is okay for acne prone skin. i use bare minerals, but its kind of expensive. you want your makeup to be oil free and for acne skin.
PLUS wash your makeup brushes regularly and your pillow cases too. try not to touch your face throughout the day, or rest your chin in your hands....all of these can clog pores.

I'm 27 and had acne for years. I tried pro active and it made it worse. I've spent so much money and nothing ever seems to work, so I know how you feel. The best thing I've used is Clinique's anti acne soap - its $10. My face cleared up with a week.
Make sure you only use oil-free cosmetics on your face, and I know its tempting to cover the spots with make-up but try not to and don't over wash and exfoliate your skin, it'll make your skin worse.

Oh that sucks. FIRST AND FOREMOST! DO NOT POP THEM! If you pop them you will end up with ugly scars. I had some on my cheeks, and well... It took about 15 microdermabrasion treatments at about 90 bucks each to help it out. They are smooth now, but I still have to cover it up a little! PLEASE don't pop them. OH and drink LOTS OF WATER and eat FRUITS and VEGGIES, and WORK OUTso you can sweat! You will be surprised what doing those things will do for you by August, oh and keep using Proactiv.

With a system such as proactiv or any system that uses a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer, you ABSOLUTELY MUST use them consistantly. EVERY DAY! TWICE A DAY! Morning and night. you cannot break the cycle. Also, maybe call the proactiv people and ask them to upgrade you to the extra strength system. but make sure you use them religiously! dont miss a day. morning and night, twice a day, every day!
Good luck
