Yeah, that bugs me too. If they mean the 48 states, they should say 48 states or coterminous or contiguous.
It is on the same continent. In 51 hours, I can drive the 2,500 miles to Seattle.

Yes, Continental United States means only the 48 contiguous states. Alaska and Hawaii are not connected to the other 48 (although technically, Alaska is on the same continent, it's just seperated by Canada).

That is correct. Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii is a great deal more expensive than shipping inside the Continental US, thus the differentiation when ordering something.
I'm sure it would feel lonely way up there, but at least it's beautiful country! : )

They seperate Alaska and Hawaii from the rest of the US for shipping reasons. They are quite far away from say a shipping depot in Kansas or Texas. You almost live in another country. Alaskan state law allow adults to posses up to 4oz of weed in a private residence legally. What a great place. If you care so much, move to the rest of the 48 states.

Alaska is part of the Continental U.S. With enough time, I could get there in a car from here in the Southeast. Advertising writers are generally not qualified for Mensa.

No offense but, it is a hassle to ship stuff to you guys. This is an added expense that some companies don't want to bother with. We haven't forgotten you guys though, you are still very much a part of the big 50.

That should be called the 'contiguous USA' since, last time I checked a map, Alaska _was_ part of the same continent (except the Aleutians), but maybe my map is out of date...

Yea I know huh. I live in Hawaii so I am with you there. It generally has to do with shipping. If it is a trip or something like that then they don't want to pay for the ticket and so on.... it is very annoying.
