Arthur C. Clarke - he's been writing for years and has envisioned many scientific advances before they became reality. And, at the same time, the books are highly entertaining and plausible. At over 80 years of age, he's still going strong.

Philip Pullman, for his amazing work on the "His Dark Materials" Trilogy including The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass.
Ray Bradbury is a close second, though, for The Martian Chronicles and Fahrenheit 451.

Definately Heinlein. He didn't write about science fiction inasmuch as he did about how society could change in a science fiction setting. That's a far more interesting topic, as every day our science reality gets a little bit closer to eclipsing said fiction.
