Americans are used to use a lot of energy resources but the Chinese only use a very small amount. There are also Russians, Europeans, Azians, Midle Eastern, Africans and South Americans who use energy but not that big amount. And there are many more people who use not enormous big energy resources to make life afordable. I do not have any numbers but it is concerning me. For example: why Amercans are not used to drive a bicycle that much as the way they do in Hongkong, Kopenhagen or Amsterdam?

Can the people of the world, (read) not only americans, behave or invent something that will keep us busy in a not so big spending way?

Yes, we are energy hogs, but Americans live in a society living too fast of pace to use bicycles.

If we did not live this way, we would not be the leaders in so many areas.

I also know that in the long run, it will cost us dearly. It will cost our health, environment, and children's future.

It is unfortunate that we do not have the time to stop and smell the roses; listen to the birds and swim with the dolphins.

Like drug addicts ... we are addicted to the fast life. We have to get our "fix" of energy.

It seems to me that Europeans, Asians, Africans, in fact everyone on the planet, would rather throw stones at American consumption rather than fix the problems that exist in their own miserable countries. I have been to a lot of foreign countries and I was struck by the vast differences in American culture and that of the rest of the world.

One thing is the vast open spaces that use to be America. Most other peoples work near where they live. We on the other hand often work 20 or 30 miles or more from our place of employment. That requires a lot of gasoline. Mass transit just doesn't fit our lifestyles. We invented the automobile, along with most other modern things. We developed petroleum for use in powering the cars and trucks we drive. Along comes the rest of the world and says no fair you're using too much. Well, we need it. The rest of the world copies our innovations and then tells us how selfish we are for not willingly rolling over and allowing you to

Necessity is mother of inventions. If Americans are consuming they will be able to find alternate resources of energy before current resources are over. Though I do not say that Americans should waste energy but at that same time we should not be constraints by the resources instead we should find way to fulfill our requirements.

Americans are the biggest consumers! 80% of the world export, 25 barrels per american per annum. i think they use up so much energy, its either the american or the chinese, who will deplete the world of its resources. Nuclear energy is productive but very harmful to humans! Solar power, the ocean's wave can be used for energy or cold fusion if discovered. anti-matter maybe... some clean energy will help the world from its current state.

Because its a long distance from where we live to where we work is one reason why we use cars. Public transportation does exist- its just sporadic in some areas.

If the use of American resources bother you so much, then log off- we invented the internet, invented the computer you're bitching about and invented the software you're writing on! :P

I wonder how many Americans really believe that they "invented the automobile and most modern things," as one participant said?

Look spanky, just insult us and get on with it.
Us Americans are also impatient, and you are wasting my time.
