A couple years ago, I took a trip to Arlington, Texas to watch the Texas Rangers play. That city is pretty nice and calm. Only bad thing is that it's in Texas. May be too hot.

The problem with "Best City" is that it may not be fine for you.

Seattle is a great place to be, but the weather may not suit your clothes.

Perhaps NYC is too exciting for you, although my NYC friends adore the place.

Better still is to determine what you want from a city and find one that closely matches your needs.

I recommend Pittsburgh, PA.

Moderate weather; large enough, yet not like L.A. in any way; beautiful with many old buildings, yet derives much of its commerce through IT and banking, so it is clean; low unemployment. High level of education for most residents, too.

The setting...western PA...is beautiful, with lush, rolling hills, and offers plenty of outdoor activities: camping, hiking, hunting, rafting.
