Tax preparers have year-round jobs; companies and individuals who are subcontractors or self-employed have to pay quarterly taxes, where you pay 1/4 of your taxes every 3 months. There's also some special taxes that have to get paid more often, particularly with businesses. So to have a year-round job you would want to get hired by a company that has a high number of business clients. That means walk-in shops like H&R Block, Jackson Hewitt, etc are not good places for you to work; their clients tend to be individuals with pretty straightforward tax needs and they're very slow unless it's tax season. You'd be better off looking at the independants, local CPA's, etc. I don't know of any in your area but there are several professional orginazations for financial folks but you can try the American Institute of CPA's for some local references.

taxes are not just once per year. You have to keep up with quarterly and yearly taxes and expenses. So yes, it is a year round job.
