I've always thought that you shouldn't want to holiday seperately from your partner but now i'm not so sure. What do you think?

yes you need your space. as long as you holiday together aswell then you should be able to go with your friends also, unless you don't trust each other then its defaintly a no no.

If you and your partner have different tastes, different number of days holiday a year/other commitments, there's no reason you shouldn't choose to go on holiday on your own, enjoy yourself, and come back and tell each other about your time apart. Absolutely fine.

I suppose my question is, is it wanting some time on your own (normal) or wanting to get away from your partner (not necessarily a good sign)?

If you're both happy to spend time apart, where's the problem? If only one of the two of you is happy with this arrangement, then a good chat is required, either to hash out a problem or to reassure the other party that this isn't an indication of impending separation!

All the best

We take our main holiday together but go on mini breaks apart all the time. We text and talk every day. It's fine to do this. You may be a couple but you are individuals and benefit from time apart. You have things to talk about .......and do when you are back togeher. If trust is an issue for you I guess it's different but you can't live your life worying about what might never happen. Just deal with what does.

It is leading relationship advice world wide that their should be a time every once in a long while that the partners take a short break away to go do their own thing. Go site seeing, visit the family for a week or weekend, take a road trip. Just that little something to help one keep their indepence and sanity.

I think that if man and woman prefer to holiday separately then they shouldn't still be together. The best and most wonderful times I have with my woman is on holidays !!! It reminds me of the fact that each of us is there for the other in the GOOD and well as the BAD times.

Like you I thought I'd never want to holiday separately but if you don't share the same interests then why waste precious holiday doing something you don't like. Now I just have to persuade my husband.

don't think so. holidays are for two people who perhaps work quite hard for most of the year to spend some time together. obviously if you hate each other and the thought of spending two weeks together is your idea of hell, then you should be thinking of a permanent holiday apart from each other!

We all need our own space from time to time. How about a holiday apart then some time together. Its all about give and take and qaulity time in the relationship.Sometimes abreak away is good for both parties..
