I would certainly say that LeBron is currently the most marketable athlete in the world. According to a recent ESPN article, LeBron's contract with Nike is $100 million, and it would grow if he went to a major market team.
If you are speaking in terms of money and influence, I'd say LeBron.

Currently Michelle Wie would be the most marketable in my opinion. She has accomplished something that most people 5 years ago would have called impossible. Aside from her excellent performances on the LPGA, she has almost made the cut at two PGA Tour events. All of this at age 15. She is not even old enough to drive. She also looks like she will turn into a beautiful woman. We know from how the advertisers marketed Natalie Gulbis ,in spite of the fact that she has never won a tournament, that looks are definitely marketable. Wait till she turns 18.

I don't where people come up with names like Lance Armstrong or Michelle Wie. I'm not saying there not marketable but there definately not the "most" marketable. to me maketability has to do with name recognition, and right now its Lebron, Dawayne Wade (and only because he just won an NBA championship), and Renaldihno (beacause soccer is the worlds most popular sport, and he might be their most popular player). I don't know if David Beckman will around much longer but he was very marketable.
But as another poster put it, the most marketable definately hasn't been born yet.

So far Tiger Woods has a lock on this. He is smart, charming, has a great smile and for bad or good he is a minority that crosses the racial barriers.
