I wrote a poem about that once. I had a few friends of other cultures wondering about "us" so, this is what I wrote:
Born into a culture thats worldwide emulated and simultaneously hated
Stolen from a rich heritage of proud people
Even the smartest, some debated
To be brought to a place corrupt and evil
On bended knees we built an empire
Bullied and hazed we slowly flamed Americas fire
Mournful songs--- secret passages held
About Harriets Passage--- the way so many fled
From bloodied backs and broken necks
Weve risen
From battered spirits and raped women
Weve risen
They tried to take our lives
But weve surely survived
And now
We take global positions, from the White House to your house
Television, radio
From Oprah to Tom Joyners Show
Weve taken over
No longer accepted by many of our
Deep ancestral history bearers
And hated by those who stole us
We create a new home
We are the millions, a new race that is
Strong enough to acknowledge what we are,
Accept what we come from and
Applaud where we are going
We dance, sing, politic and make the world stand up and notice
We are African Americans
We have taken the worst; made it the best and now they imitate us.
This is my culture.

We are all mixed.... history.... As for what do I think about black people, they are people that have darker skin.... many different shades too... I'm married to a black man and I love him to death.... I would die for him.... I would kill for him.... Most of all I will always love him.... I have never been the type to judge someone by the color of their skin.... It is the person, who that person is on the inside.... Skin color has nothing at all to do with who or what a person is. It is only the color of their skin.... Be proud of how you were born, God wanted you to be how you are and that is all that matters.... I have many nationalities in my blood, although I look white.... and that is just from the in my life time family genes.... I'm proud of what and who I am.... Those people that seem to be raciest, well there are some still, yet don't let them get to you.... ignore their ignorance and keep being who you are.... and like I said be proud of who and what you are.... You are who you were meant to be...

I am black too and racism is one of the most ignorant things out there. I love my people. I love all people. To me people are people. Black people do the same things white people do just in different ways and I would appreciate if people would stop looking down on us like we dont belong here. But there are also a lot of black people who hate their own kind because of stereotypes they hear or even witness as true. It sickens me the way people in this world act towards one another as if the pigment in our skin makes us any less of a person as if we had a choice in what color we wanted to be. Its a shame.

I have nothing against black people. but i have to admit that Ive met a lot of racst people who are hispanic (im hispanic too) and you know what with all the things you guys have been thorugh, when Im near someone I think "How am I supposed to act?" because there are some over dramatic black people that can be offended rather quickly. So Im ok with them. I just dont know how to act.

I neither like or dislike them in general. I only like or dislike individuals. I have dated black guys many times in the past. I have black friends and co-workers - I really just don't think anything about color, ANY color.
