I have had the exact thing happen. I lost one, I found out too early in the pregnancy about having twins and the surviving one was 100% healthy. I have also gone on to successfully have a set of twins. No fert meds, just mother nature.

hi, not twins, i was pregnant with triplets, and miscarried one, and went on to have two very healthy identical twin girls.
I was also diagnosed with twin to twin transfusion syndrome, which is basically when one twin gets all the blood, food etc, and the other is starved, but because you supply enough for two the one who gets everything ends up very ill as the get to much. I was asked to select one for termination, but said there is no way i could pick one of my children to live, and unless it was life threatening to them, i would not terminate either, turned out they were both fine.

My mother-in-law was pregnant with twins and lost one at 18 or 19 weeks. She went on to carry the other baby to 25 weeks, and he was OK. This was in the early 80s, when medicine wasn't quite as advanced as it is now, and her son is fine. He's a little slow...not retarded or brain damaged...it just takes him a while to pick up on things. Sometimes you have to tell him something twice before he "gets" what you're saying. He's in his early 20s now, works part time, goes to college to be a math teacher. He's doing well.

Yes it is possible. Your other baby has a very good chance of being a completely healthy and happy baby. I'm very sorry for your loss, it is very hard to accept this fact but have faith in the higher power. Everything happens for a reason so chin up and enjoy your bundle of joy when he/she arrives. If you have any other concerns you should talk with your doctor.
