If you are against outsourcing, don't support the companies that do it. We the consumers have created this monster, not the government. We insist on a constant supply of inexpensive goods but insist on quality. We show no brand loyalty and use cost as a primary factor in making purchasing decisions. Companies cannot lower how much the materials for their goods cost so they have no choice other than to lower labor costs or be undersold; that's where the jobs are going. Companies do not care that we like American people answering the phone because we as consumers don't care enough to pay more for it.

If Dell's call centers were staffed with American citizens working in an American city, they would not be able to sell you a computer for $399 (sometimes I've seen them as low as $299 or even less). If the socks you buy at Target were made in America with American labor, they'd be $12.00 a pair or more. And if Target started selling nothing but $12.00 American-made socks, you would stop shopping there.

We as consumers need to appreciate the power we have and how much of a difference we can make. If everyone who does not like outsourcing stopped buying Dell computers, I bet that would get their attention! But we cannot complain about a situation we ourselves have created unless we are willing to un-create it, too.

Technically, outsourcing isn't a bad thing. It may seem like it to people affected, but really, it does good things for our economy. Here, take a look at some of these links. I used to get in a huff about outsourcing jobs until I had to learn about it at university, and now it just seems an inevitable part of progression.

I have been fussing about this for awhile too. I am sick of hearing politicians say, 'the jobs are gone and arent coming back.' Why the hell not?!!!!

It is time to bring back incentives for corporations staying in the states or penalties for leaving. We need to UNDO or FIX free trade programs like NAFTA that have been a disaster for our workers.

And ppl can preach all day not to buy from those companies that do it but that is just stupid. When our wages get so low that we are fored to buy those low cost products... what kind of choice is that?
