Alloy wheels?

Hi just bought a new car body works immaculate but alloys are scratched in places , anyone suggest a good way to bring them back to look nice ! Cheers

OO or OOO steel wool.

Alloys wheels always have either a piant finish or clear coat. without this the alloy would oxidise and the wheels look like they are mouldy. There are companies that will give the wheels a full polish but that means that you will have to autosol the wheels every week.
What happens is the wheels get kerbed and the clear coat is damaged. This allows water to penetrate under the clear coat and makes the alloy react and 'blow' the rest of the finish.
The only real way forward is to get them refinished. About 40 - 60 is the rate for a mobile service. Check yahoo for mobile alloy wheel refurbishment. Ebay is also a good place to go as sometimes new wheels can be cheaper.

There isnt any real way of cleaning them up yourself... wonder wheels is a good product to start with though.

If you look in Yellow Pages or an enthusiast magazine such as 'Max Power' there are mobile firms that will come out to yor car and repair your wheels on site. This may involve filling the scratches with body filler and then respraying them. On average it works out to about £70 per wheel. Certain tyres have a band just above the bead which prevents or minimises kerb damage.

Alloy wheels are literally the classic on maximum motorcycles in recent times, ive continually bought rims from mavic and they have continually taken a battering. in fact the perfect 2 motorcycles i owned both cracked at the same time as the wheels were merely about suited! kinds of rims would nicely be bought counting on the way you journey and clearly the extra you pay often the extra acceptable the perimeters. also alloy wheels will be plenty lighter and corrosion resistant . desire this facilitates

NO steel wool. If you have painted alloys find some touch up paint and clear coat. Most polished alloys have a clear coating on them. Sometimes just using a clear touch up will hide the scratch

scratched not really, once scratched they are really ruined unless you try to fill the scratches and paint the fillings, but i wouldnt advise that. Anyway if the scratches are really bafd buy new rims if you can afford to.

I would recommend that you get chrome wheels, my sister had some and because of her lack of parking skills...scratched them up very badly. She was able to get them "redipped" and they came out like new.
