You should ask your girlfriend that. Some women don't like one or the other (like me, I hate to wear yellow gold, washes me out). So, if she likes yellow gold, then she won't want platinum and vice versa.

In terms of value, the platinum is more valuable, thus more expensive. If you're going with gold, get at least 14k. If you end up with white gold, be sure it is white gold and not rhodium plated yellow gold.

As for appearance, gold will look newer longer. Platinum has a very high melting point which is why people will tell you it is stronger. However, it is softer on the surface and gets scratched and marked more easily than gold.

Feel free to ask for more info if needed!

White gold. Platinum looks nice at first but scratches and looks dull very quickly. I had a beautiful wedding set that was platinum and had it changed over to white gold. It's also expensive each time you have the Platinum ring polished. In this case most expensive is not better :-)

You have to find that out from her honey.....Only she will know what she prefers. I prefer Platinum but most of my friends like gold. If you are trying to surprise her bring it up some other way like maybe say you were thinking of getting your mom a mother's ring for x-mas what does she think of gold or platinum. But only the woman who is getting it will know whether she likes it, we all have ideas but each have our own. Didn't make sense at the end sorry. Good luck

Any ring that you think best fits her personality.Maybe you should think about waht she likes or if she is wondering around town alot, get the more durable ring, platinum. If she is more of a fashion person, get the gold. But you can still buy her platinum ring if she likes fashion because they are both very pretty.Iam thinking she will be very happy with whichever ring she gets.Gold or platinum, does not really matter.Get to know her.It is definately the thought that counts.Goodluck!

I would go for the gold. Platinum, is thought of as better just because its expensive, but when you consider that is scratches easier and doesn't shine as much why pay the extra money? If your girl is in love with you she wont care if you bought the more expensive ring. Check out the jewelry she already wears if she wears mostly silver go with white gold, if she wears yellow gold go with regular gold. And the stone, round cut catches the most light so it will sparkle the most. Good luck!

It depends on which one she wears the most between Gold and Silver. I would choose Platinum just b/c even if she does wear more Gold then the Platinum should look good with either. So next time your around her just pay attention to what she has on, Jewelry that is

platinum is much stronger than gold.. gold is extremely soft and will warp, scratch, dent, and thin out on her finger. platinum is beautiful, the only thing I don't like is that you can't really tell visually the difference between platinum and white gold, especially when not comparing them side by side to one another. Platinum is significantly more expensive than gold, but worthe the money in the long run.
