Because many don't realize that most of these "caring" celebrities are no more than self-righteous *ssholes who because they can sing/dance/act and have no more than a high-school edyookashun somehow think that they are entitled to the red-carpet lifestyle while the rest of us should be feeling guilty while we toil away for $12 an hour and hopefully keep shelling out for their product. For those that say "oooh, but bono is at least talking about it"..well, my taxes keep going up and up, and I don't see any the po' folk getting any leaner.

Well a celebrity more than likely is a person that has influence over a large majority of people. Their name has power to attract attention.

I use a litmus test: There are plenty of celebrities that have a lot less education and time in selfless service than I do and I do not respect a lot of their often misguided philosophies and opinions that are always over simplification and name calling. What do the Susan sarandons, Tim Robbins do other than show up and complain. Are they making a plan, solving the problem or assigning blame and ridicule. True movers and shakers work to get something done without pointing fingers and having rallies to instill hate or division. Who the heck really cares about the ideas of Babara Streisand? I mean really, these people have had yes men around them telling them how great they are and why should I listen to someone with an over inflated sense or importance?

That's right Answer Man! If Ticketmaster didn't have to capitalize on every G Darn ticket sold, if we didn't have to pay to park at these expensive concerts, if a beer wasn't $4.50 a cup, if minimum wage were more than $5.15 per hour, if fuel prices had a cap on them... the world would be a better place. We don't need 'rock stars' asking these questions, we've been asking them for years. I'll bet Bono's gonna give up half or more of his income. What do you think, huh?

Well, why not forgetting bono is a celebrity. He could just behave like any average star, what he doesn't...

He's doing somethin' great and look...you just think about how he gets attention and not you. I answered his question and I answer yours as well. No difference except that your question is useless and won't help and his will...

He doesn't ask somethin' for him. He asks somethin' for OTHERS and that's the point. And if he wasn't bono from U2 his question and all the help he will surely receive would have been equal to NOTHING. So please consider what is positive here (and elsewhere)

HAve a nice day

Our accepted form of worship in America is celebrity worship.

Why can we worship celebrities and not God?

We have accepted that celebrities have earned the right to influence our choices. If corporations could hire God to promote their products and get us to buy stuff, then websites would quote scripture. But since God isn't for corporate hire and he can't be photographed and interviewed celebrities get the job.

But isn't it interesting when Celebs and Corporations have a disagreement? (ie Star Jones.)

I understand your anger it is true in a fact that the normal everday people have no voice. But it is also another when a celeb uses his or her power for good. not everyone is fully thirsty for money especially if that have theyre obtainable amount already. My saying.
give everybody a chance. and hopefully it will turn around it give us one too.

Because it's a great marketing tool.

Imagine how many people joined Yahoo answers just to answer Bono's question. Eh?

2006-07-07 16:40:31 · answer #7 · answered by TellMeMore 3 · 0 0

because Yahoo knows it brings the money.

stupid people look up to and adore people because they can sing or act.

the most stupid say stupid things like "Michael is innocent" when they weren't even there. not only that, the evidence shows it to be real and the most stupid (squared) are seen crying in front of the court room saying they love him.

Idiots.

I can understand your frustration; especially when thoughtful, profound questions such as yours are relegated to the deeps. PS: They always get tables at the best restaurants, too.
