You have 12 marbles, they're all the same size and same wieght except for 1(which also has same size) you need to find out which 1 it is. You have a scale and with the scale u have to find out in 3 measures which 1 is the heavy one.
I wasn't really sure which one to put this in so sry if its a bit confusing for the catagory.

First weighing: Weigh two stacks of six. The one that goes down has the heavy marble.
Second weighing: Weigh two stacks of three from the six. The one that goes down has the heavy one.
Third weighing: Pick two of the three marbles and weigh them. The one that goes down is the heavy one. If they balance, the third one is heavy.
Make sense?

put 6 marbles on one side of scale and six on the other. Discard the six that come up lighter. Next take the heavy side put 3 of those on one side and three on the other, again discard all on the lighter side. Now with the three that are left place one marble on each side and set the third to the side. If both marbles are equal then the one you set aside is the heaviest.

First measure 6 vs 6 whichever way the scale tilts take those six marbles.
Second measure 3 vs 3 whichever way the scale tilts take those three marbles.
Finally measure a random 1 vs 1, if the scale is balanced you have the heaviest marble in your hand, if the scale tilts one way that is the heaviest marble.

If you have a beam scale (like the one "lady justice" holds) divide the marbles into 2 groups (six in each group). Put them on the scale to see which group is heavier then split that group in half (three in each group) weigh them again, then take the three heavier and put one marble on each side. if they are equal weight, then the one you did not weigh is the heaviest.

put the marbles on the scale in (2) groups of six, take the heavier of the two groups.... then split those six marbles into another (2) groups of three, take the heavier of the two groups..... then pick on of the three and hopefully you pick the right one....I have not solved the riddle but given you a 1:3 of getting the correct marble
thats difficult...good one

divide them in half the side that is heaviest stays the others go. Take the leftover six divide again. The heaviest side stays, the others go. Now take two of the three marbles and weight them apart from the other, which you keep in your hand. If the scales don't change you have the heaviest marble in hand, if it tilts to one side that is the heaviest.

divide into three groups of four.
by each group, add the marbles one by one noting the weight of the first and the weight of each after by subtracting the total weight from the previous one.
continue until you find your guy.
