It is not the best thing to do and it overdries your skin. let me explain the importance of a good skin care regimen....first of all, avoid using products formulatted with mineral oil and animal products. These do not get absorbed by the skin and what it does is that it clogs your pores. In fact mineral oil is the 2nd worse thing you could do to your skins health #1 is the sun, it is like rubbing car oil on your skin and exposing yourself to the sun... Animal product come form rendering plants, these plants pick all dead animals from the road, meatmarkets etc and what they do is put them in a huge pot and squash everything inside and boil it the oil that comes to the top is what other companies use to formulate their "beauty" products ... gross i know.. eww lipstick and aghhh .. anyway, the important thing to do is read your ingredients and use the right ones regularly .... also bathing daily cleanses the skin, but it also can dry it out, causing it to look dull, but most importantly, it may cause irritation and remove the natural emolients your body produces to keep it healthy. When you bathe, always use a moisture-rich cleanser, and always pamper your skin with a daily moisturizer. I use arbonne products.... https://secure.myarbonne.com/arbonne/arb... because they are botanically based and you could really see the difference, i had acne and lots of blemishes and my skin has cleared so much, it really is amazing and they have everything for everybody.... theire deep pore cleansing mask and their scrub is just perfect for eliminating the blackheads. Also their face wash is great because it cleanses without drying and removes all traces of makeup and dirt.... works wonderful for me and the bes thing is that you could shop online, receive it in your house and if ther is something you do not like about the products which is rarely to happen, you return the item and they give your money back .... also check this site from the fox news about toxins in beauty products..... http://easylink.playstream.com/ydc/arbon...

Most soaps cause a drying of the skin's oils and cleansing of the pores. This seems good because acne is of course caused by oily buildup in the pores. However, the skin is alive and when its natural oils are stripped it tends to produce far more oil to replace it, thus alone causing further acne. Add to this fact the next fact that most soaps do not rinse clear, but leave residue in the pores and you can see for yourself the cycle that begins. You essentially end up washing your face in order to get the soap and oil off your face from the last washing!
A mild cleanser that removes excess oil, but does not strip the skin of all its oil or leave any residue is a plain Neutragina facial bar -- the clear, brown colored bars. Over a period of 6-8 weeks, if you wash with the Neutragina twice daily, morning and night and do so religiously with no other soaps, cleansers, shampoos OR MAKE UP, Neutragina will balance your skin and basically cure anything but what is called Problem Acne.
The key is to stick with it and don't change up. The skin must have that time to adapt. Trying a new product every few weeks is like a nuclear assault on the skin and it produces tons of more oil.
Hope this helps!

Putting things on your face doesn't really cause acne...
I mean, I'm sure if you soaked your face in mayo and bologna for a while, you might break out.
But!
Acne is mainly caused by hormones; reaching maturity, stress levels, ect...
Acne is difficult to clear up, and scrubbing and washing doesn't always help.
But for the answer to your question; no, it doesn't cause acne.
Some soaps can even prevent break-outs.
And then there's always acne medication, even the stuff in your local drug-store.

Not at all. It depends on your skin type. I went to the dermatologist when I was a teenager and the Dr told me to use antibacterial soap. So I would think he would know best. I have really oily skin. I think that soap tends to dry skin up a little so for me it helped rid my skin of all the oil. But if you have dry skin it would be a very bad idea. Overdrying skin can cause acne so if you have dry skin then don't use soap.
But the answer to your question. Soap doesn't cause acne. The lack of natural oils and an overabundance of natural oils cause acne.

everybody's skin is different. some people have sensitive skin that can't take soap on their face and then there are some who use soap everymorning and night. we all do not have the same skin type. and if you think that soap is what causes acne on YOUR face then you should try different cleansers and moisturizers. the only thing that i know soap will do to your face is that it will dry your skin up or make it feel tight like you can't move it. but like i said...everybody's skin is different. maybe if you feel like soap is containg a chemical that your face can't take then go to the drug store and purchase a cleanser that you think works best for your face. or try ordering ProActive if you think your skin is that bad.

Two part answer:
1. When you say "soap" I am going to assume you are talking about the solid "bar" style cleansers. Surprise! Almost all of these are detergents and not "Soap" at all.
The real "Soap" is the product of a specific chemical reaction called "Saponification". This occurs when you mix a strong "base" (the opposite of acid) like Sodium Hydroxide (i.e. pure "Lye" drain cleaner) with some type of fat or oil.
Years ago most pioneer families made there own soap at home. You can buy books on making soap at home. I have done it, you have to wear goggles and be careful but it is fun. Homemade soap baskets are the cheapest way I have found to make really classy Christmas presents for a large number of people.
So... what are you buying in the drugstore. Unless it is Ivory (one of the very few mass market true "Soaps" left) it is a detergent. Detergent is also made through a chemical process, although a more modern one. It can be made more cheaply, and the results are more predictable.
2. Detergents initially form as a liquid, so additional (sometimes harsh/ irritating) ingredients are added to coax it into a solid form. It can then be extruded and shaped into all the varieties of shapes you see. It also takes color very well.
In order for real soap to be colored and scented well it has to be created, and cured. Then grounded finely and re-melted. This is called "milling". Sometimes you hear of "French Milled soap" or "Triple Milled Soap". In real soap it is necessary to get perfumes and dyes to stay without the Sodium Hydroxide negatively impacting them.
So which is better? Detergents or Soap?
I typically avoid "bar cleansers" (detergent) for my face. I use a liquid cleanser from a tube. I think some of the technology such as Alpha Hydroxy Acids has gotten quit good and prefer that for myself. I use "Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser".
If you have sensitive skin, and cannot tolerate any irritation you may want to try a real old fashion style soap. A good mass market brand is called "Kiss My Face"; I have tried the Olive Oil style. Because it uses olive oil it has a dark greenish cast to the bar, but that’s normal. You can find it in more natural style grocery stores like "Whole Foods". Or from the internet.
Lastly Soap does not cause acne.
Acne is a multifaceted issue, with hormones, genetics, and environment all playing a role.
If you smoke, quit. It hurts your circulation to your skin.
Drink plenty of water.
Consider getting on a tri-cyclic birth control pill
For spot treatment use 100% Tea Tree Oil
Switch your pillowcase daily.
Don't pick- it spreads bacteria.
Keep your hair off your face, hair products can clog pores.
Use tepid water when you wash.
Pat, don't rub when you dry.
I hope that helps.

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

Depends on the kind of soap & if it has (ewww) other body part's germies & dirt on it before it goes on your face. Glycerine soap doesn't hurt or particularly help out the problem. Any soap with sylic acid will clear acne, but may dry out your face. Dove soap is a good one that is oksy for face & made for body. they actually make a line of facial soaps too, but their regular bar soap is good clean soap safe for face & acne fighting... okay enough with this answer, Im moving on....

When you washed your faced "hard" with the soap, it just made it worse by making your face dry and brittle. Maybe when you washed your face, you opened more pores causing more dirt and oil to enter your skin causing acne.
