My husband and I bot agree that it should be kept a secret. We would continue to work (assuming its enough money to stop) and we wouldnt even tell our daughters (maybe we would someday) this way we could enjoy life without hearing from all the strangers and we could help as needed without being bombarded with requests and pleas
My dream is to get a big amount and buy a farmhouse with a working garden and barn of animals adjacent to a gas station/cafe/convience store and to foster/adopt children. I would allow them to work at the place so they could make money and save in the bank for later plus they would feel loved in our family.

If we are talking lottery or mass inheritance kind of money, I would make sure you had all your affairs in order before you tell everyone. But you are going to have to let the cat out of the bag sooner or later. You can't keep mass amounts of money a secret. It will show in every facet of your life.

If I found a lot out in a parking lot somewhere, I'd turn it in to the police. I couldn't keep it with a clean conscience. If someone thought of me in a will, I wouldn't boast about it, but if someone asked me I'd answer honestly. And there are some close friends and relatives I'd tell.

it depends on how much is "a lot", how you came upon it, and who you're keeping the secret from.
if is truly a substancial amount of money, you need to do the right thing and turn it in.

i think it depends on how you came upon a lot of money. if you're married, then your spouse is entitled to it anyway...if it's the lottery, you wouldn't be able to hide it...tell me more about this secrete stash of money that you have???

YES! When you come into some money and everyone finds out, you would be surprised at how many people come out of the woodwork with hard luck stories.

dr jeckle and mr hide. that would be a hard decision. i would want to keep it, but then again i would think that the money would be a curse. i would go out and buy a brand new car and all the tires would go flat, or buy a new boat and it would sink.
