I'd use pads if I were you. Sometimes tampons are just too much for a beginner in the world of "Aunt Flow". Cloth pads are too messy and cups? EWWWWWW.

Wait and see how your periods run and what kind of blood flow you have to gauge your use of pads. There are all sorts and sizes out there. Later, when you feel more comfortable, you could move on to tampons if you wish. Anyone can use them. Before I got my period, older girls would tell us that a virgin couldn't use a tampon, and like fools we believed them. Don't let anyone try and trick you with that old wives' tail.

Good luck, and remember, Midol will be your best friend!! ;)

at first i couldn't really get the hang of tampons so i was stuck in a world of pads.
however, i found really skinny tampons for teens and they worked well once i got the hang of how to put it in.

i would recommend tampons and then maybe a panty liner during the day on heavy days in case there's a leak.
also, at night i used the big pads b/c it's not the safest to have a tampon in for long periods of time. there's an insert in tampon boxes about TSS (toxic shock syndrome), so you can read up on that in the box insert.

also, i had specific "period" underwear. sounds silly, but you'll thank me later for the idea when you stain your favorite pair of victoria's secret lacy bits!
it was usually some nice cotton hanes bikinis for the few days i had my period.

i'm pregnant now, so i don't have to deal with it for a little while longer..yay me!

take care and i hope this helped.

For my first period? I used pads and pantyliner from Always. Now I use tampons, only if I'm doing something that won't last more then four hours or doing a sport besides gym class.

For your first period I suggest pads, as uncomfortable as they are, they will not give you TSS (toxic shock sydrome). Wait till you are comfortable with you period, when you get it, to use tampons.

Pads! Tampons look really gross but some people actually use it! I don't know why I guess they just like pain or they think tampons are better. But U SHOULD START WITH PADS!

I used pads for the first few times. But after that i started using tampons. I got invited to this awsome pool party. It was the biggest summer event EVER!! and i so ahd to go but it was my TOM. [time of month] So i had to learn how to use a tampon. But after that i found them more comfy so i use them now and pads to sleep. And just wait. you will get your period. and your lucky you dont have it yet. I know. I got my period way after my friends and i felt left out. But then i got it. And man, it sucks. Just ask your friends what they used! They'll help you!

Use pads for the first 6 months to a year then use what ever you want! I prefur tampons!! But you will lessen your risk of toxic shock syndrome if you use pads for 6 months to a year

Tampons are not confortable for a very young girl, or for a person who nevers had relations. For a person who just started having her period, I think that sould use pads.

I have never used pads unless I am sleeping. I don't much like feeling like I am wearing a diaper. I use playtex tampons. They are the most comfortable that I have found and I never leak or anything like that!

i would use pads for a little bit after getting your period. after you get used to your period like how heavy it is and stuff like that then you should start wearing tampons because you need to know the absorbency real well.
