there are generally two kinds of people , psychologically speaking...
one those who consider life a danger with islands of safety and the other who see life as safe with islands of danger....
you fall under the first category....
to get rid of your fears you need to harbour your strength...
people fear bcoz they are not aware of their own potential....
have confidence in yourself....in your abilities...learn to trust your instincts and do not always rely on your anxious mind....
i would recommend meditation.....
negative thoughts can be reversed by positivity.....its a wonderful chance to actually develop an extremely positive mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
even with all the pain n sorrow....still there is incredible amount of beauty in life....
believe in yourself....n have faith in life....
you'll be fine.....

Hi. While most of the "answers" you've received may be more or less helpful, such as "facing your fears" (which is generally good advice--GENERALLY speaking), it sounds like you may be experiencing something a bit more serious. It certainly sounds like you are feeling anxiety. If what you are experiencing is serious, and it keeps you from going out, then your fears are having a negative affect on your life. Fears are not something we "get rid of" (otherwise, they'll just keep getting stronger until they take over our lives), but rather something to work through. As on mentor of mine said: "The only way past fear is to go through it." But sometimes, we need somebody to help us get through them. You don't have to face them without guidance. Thus, I recommend seeking professional advice and even testing or consulting from a psychologist or therapist. (Psychiatrists can help with testing, and can help "manage the symptoms" with medication, but not your only option.)
Getting help from a therapist or counselor is not a "bad" thing and does NOT mean that you are a bad person. We all have our difficulties, fears, and issues. The healthy choice is doing something about them.
I also recommend that if you decide to work with a therapist; first, interview a few until you find somebody you "click" with, and second, stay with it--especially when it gets hard. It gets harder before it gets better. It has really helped me, more than I can describe. You don't have to suffer alone.
Good luck and I hope this was helpful.

It's an accurate vision. Everytime you leave the house I think it's fair to say that terrible things do happen, just not to you. Terrible things happen all around us, every day and every minute. So looking at it in that perspective, you come out looking very fortunate and safe.....and can feel confident that the terrible things that happen are steering clear of your life path.

Face them. Try imaging what ever your afraid of and overcoming it in your mind. If its a monster/or person kick it's but in your mind. If it's a flight then imagine getting off the plane at the end. Also you can keep pepper spray on your key chain, that also might help. By the way usually it's something more then just going out try getting to the root of the problem.

By not nurturing your fears. the more you spend time on it; the more power fear has over you. it's just like in every thing you do; you need to give it some of your time. eg: cooking a meal, going shopping or thinking bout something at any given time.
my advice: think about something much better, something that makes you happy.

Do things that you are scared of - like skydiving.
My girlfriend was always having nightmares about being attacked, so we both went to a shooting range for the first time. She had fun and felt empowered and doesn't have that mightmare anymore.

sounds like you're afraid of life. i was the same, till i had a near death experience. i know it's the biggers cliche, but ever since, i've lived like i'm gonna die tomorrow. i try new things, enjoy everything and now my only fear is that i'm gonna loose this feeling.

"It's the heart, afraid of breaking, that never learns to dance.
It's the dream, afraid of waking, that never takes a chance.
It's the one who won't be taken, who cannot seem to give.
And the soul, afraid of dyin', that never learns to live."
--Amanda McBroom
Dreamer and many others offered you great advice. I just wanted to sing this song to give you inspiration to follow their advice. Best of luck!
