I heard a voice track of that guy from Panic At The Disco. Just him singing alone in the studio with no other tracks. It wasGOD AWFUL! Terribly off key, weak, and shaky. Sounded nothing like the finished product. Same goes for other bands that I have seen live (by accident). Man, I am a generation x'er and our vocalists used to sing like men. I just can't figure out why these 20 year old men in emo bands nowadays try to sound like 13 year old kids. It's disgraceful. Could you imagine Slayer doing that crap? Chris Cornell never did the crap. He still doesn't. Ministry never did that crap. Sepultura never did that crap. Pantera never did that crap (although their early stuff was kinda hairbandish). Men sounded like men. I think it all started to go downhill with MXPX or Blink 182. That's my best guess. Then you got all this crap afterwards like Bouncing Souls and The Ataris, etc. Buncha mass marketing directed towards the suburbs.

yeah man. i'm a guitar instructor, i play in a band, and i have a small recording studio in my house. when someone wants to record something at my place, i always ask what they need for vocals. if they want digital enhancement for pitch correcting, i tell them i'm not available. thats bull. zeppelin and sabbath didnt, the who didnt, clapton didnt, maiden and priest didnt, and anyone that needs it to sound good should just give up and quit. thats bullshit. if you cant sing, DONT SING. the crap that comes out today is way too polished, and its all limpwristed suck hack garbage. let 4 or 5 guys go in a room, and just play and record. if you cant do it on your own, you shouldnt be doing it. i agree with you entirely. if you told zakk wylde, or ozzy, or hendrix or anyone else with a sack that you were gonna alter the pitch of their voice....... you'd better make hospital reservations.

they enhance things to sell..
I woulda been PISSED off if I went to a NIRVANA concert and expected to hear what was on the ALBUM.
Kurt didnt give a flyin **** if it was in key or not.
People dont wanna here that on CDs..
If im not mistaken kurt didnt like this.

People today dont care about manly voices....
thats why emo is selling period.
so...maybe, maybe not..it all depends on how close to the SELL sound the original recording is. If im selling EMO, I dont wanna sound like James Hetfield. That would take editing to sound whiney... but if some little boy comes in... probably doesnt take much to make him sound more emo
