What if we ARE insignificant to them? So what? An ant, a fly, a rabbit, a dog, a horse, a person living on the other side of the planet of where you reside are insignificant to you too....but they continue to live life without a care, and so do you. How is that going to affect anything? What if we don't matter? To whom? Them? So? The same applies. Life continues until it is forced to stop. Living organisms that we don't know die all the time. It doesn't matter to us. We continue to live, and so does everything else. The only exception are those familiar with the deceased or affected by a change.

I agree with Goldcrest, to believe we are the only living organisms in a tremendously huge universe is narcissistic. I don't believe in little gray or green men, I definitely don't believe in a heaven or hell, but to think a relatively young life form as ours could be the only one in such a vast system with capabilities to sustain life... you must think that nothing can be better than you. And I'm not talking about Humans in other planets, but living organisms. Like memento said, it could be tubeworms, crab, shrimp, or just bacteria.

There is life on other planets, the universe is teeming with life. Don't ask me how i know this you wont like the answer, but because of our age we are still on the "insignificant" page. Like the rings on a tree the universe is built pretty much the same way. Concentric circles expanding from a center point. Based on the 'doppler-light-shift' theory the universe is 13.835 billion years old. Our "ring" is only 453 million years old, so we are a relatively young solar system in comparison to. For a more concrete answer do a search on the "drake equation" it will substantiate the likelyhood that we are not alone in this massive universe. Only egotists believe that we are the only living, intelligent sentient beings in the universe that probability or mother nature or God has produced. That is the silliest bs i have ever heard in my entire life. And that theory is not supported anywhere not even in the Bible. "In my Fathers' house there are many mansions"

There IS life on other planets and solar systems. How can we be so arrogant to think that we are the only ones asking these questions? Stop limiting your thoughts to the third dimension and you might not feel so insignificant.
If you understand the interconnectedness of everything within the Multiverse then you'll see how we all matter.

Why do you think WE are significant or matter any more than anything else? Why would it make a difference if there is other life?

If there is life on other planets I hope we find it, it will expand our perspective and allow our conciousness to grow. (and also maybe put to rest some of the old mythologies that still circulate through the minds of men)

There are theories of life on Europa (Jupiters moon). That moon has liquid water underneath its icy surface and is heated by themal vents like in Earths deep oceans. Life exists around Earths thermal vents, so it is possible that life could have developed there as well. Nothing more exiciting that a tubeworm or albino crab, though.

There is no human like life in other planets. Human beings are souls having a bodily experience, as souls; we are eternal. The "stage" is right here on earth.

That is an interesting thought, long as you matter to yourself it really doesnt matter what or how others feel about you! & There probably is more life in the universe & guess what we probably dont matter or else they would ave gotten in touch don't you think? Or they are just as unaware of us....

It all comes down to self image. Unless some other species is overtly hostile towards humanity we will live and die as a species on what we have within us. Just like here on earth, any other beings opinion of you isn't nearly as important as your own towards yourself.
