In new super Mario bros.,Mario has a super fast shell power up and that can kill all enemies he rolls in.And don't forget the giant mushroom!He could stomp on Sonic!In one mario game there's a power up that allows him to turn into a staue.He could sneak up on Sonic a.d butt pound him.Plus in ew super Mario bros.,Mario runs faster than other Mario games

They both have super forms.But Mario only has to get a star and that's it.Sonic has to find 7 emeralds or find a box having invincibility.So tied there.But Sonic has to collect rings to stay super when he becomes super Sonic.Weak point there.No rings,no super Sonic.Mario has a minute to stay super,Sonic has less time.Mario could poke him in the eye.

What? Mario wins! WHY?
Well, you see, if Mario gets a feather for the racoon power, gets a fire flower, and has five starman, so each time one runs out, he uses another, PWNED. Flight, Fire Balls, Invincability... originally, I thought the feather that does the cape, but in gameplay, he can't stand still in the air. But, Racoon Feather is a bit better on that area.
RACOON FEATHER + FIRE FLOWER + 5 STARMAN = HYPER MARIO
Hyper Mario owns Super Sonic. What about Hyper Sonic? Well, Mario will win in the end. Or Wario will pop in and crush them when they are weak. GO WARIO!

I'd have to say, sadly, Mario. Sonic is cooler, but Mario has MUCH better development. More plots (some are pretty good!), and characters that even have their own games (Super Princess Peach? Even that game's good!). Mario has more styles of games as well.
VS-wise, Sonic. In a normal fight, Mario can last up to only 3 hits. Sonic, it depends on your coins.
Item-wise, Mario. C'mon! Mega mushrooms, mini mushrooms, fire flowers, power star, hammers, 1-Ups, nuts, beans, and more. he list is almost endless. Sonic only gets boxes, though they do have a lot in them.
Enemy-wise, Mario again. Eggman is fat. Bowser AND Eggman are both dumb. But creativity, that's Nintendo's strength. And it shows in all the enemies of Mario. Sonic's enemies are usually, robotic, and the bosses too.
Show-wise, SONIC HANDS DOWN. The Mario shows are kinda cheesy, same for the OLD Sonic show. The (sorta)new one is pretty good though.
OVERALL: MARIO. Publicity, popularity, creativity, it all adds up.

Super Mario, he's got way more moves, plus he can throw fireballs. All he has to do is jump over Sonic when he tries to roll into him. Sonic's got nothin' on Mario!

i am such a sonic fan (his name and pictures of him r all around my flat screen monitor, but mario will win by a close shot.
for other people to help here r the moves i can think off the top of my head
mario
mushroom power (origonal)
the hammer thingy (smash bros)
fireballs... wait that didnt sound right... (dubbel dash)
turtle shell (dd)
heat sensor turtle shell (dd)
jump on top of ppl to hurt them (origonal)
sonic
speed dash
jump on top of them
chaos control (ss)
chaos blast (ss)
chaos emeralds
homing attacks
tornado-spinny-thingy-makes-them-fly-high-in-the-air attack
well just plain kicking and punching.
well now that i think about it, sonic would win if he worked his @$$ off and if amy were there to cheer him on and ....well..... you know what i mean!!!!!!!!
also he just jump ontop of that phat idiotic italian plummers' fat and make him throw his guts up.and if that doesent work... hell just have to work his @$$ off.
i dont friggin care if hes a hedgehog! all i care is that if theres ever a fight between them, Sonic the hedge hedgehog will have that damn glory!!!!!!!!!!!!
