Opel was here during the 60's and early 70's but did not fare all that well. Not much appeal.

Having worked with Opel and GM here in the states, the answer is easy - NO! - the Saturn sedan from 2003-04MY was an Opel design/Opel engineered product (the Catera was not the last Opel engineered product GM used)
..........and it has been a dismal failure in the marketplace. Opels in Europe are very boring, nondescript designs, and the company in general suffers from a reputation problem there as well. Opel has a very difficult time identifying with the tastes and expectations of the American market. I would not expect any venture of theirs in the near-term any time soon.

Several Opel models were in the US in the 60's and 70's (80's?). I bought a used Opel GT a long time ago and was somewhat disappointed by it.

Opel has been in the USA in the past. It has also recently came here as the Cadillac Catera.
Opel is a division of General Motors so cars often get crossed.

Several Opel/Vauxhaul re-badges have been released by Saturn recently. The Sky, Aura, etc are based off of their designs IIRC. A rose by any other name *shrugs*
The problem with Opel releasing directly to the United States is emissions requirements. So they sell the designs to other manufacturers then let them worry about it.
