You are the employee? You have worked for an employer for 15 years? You owe your employer your honest work and integrity. You should be recieving your wages and benefits, perhaps bonuses but you do not owe your employer a gift. If your empolyer is also a friend, a token gift, like an addition to a collection, or a special ticket to a favorite activity, but you really do not owe him. If it's a special occasion then it is alright to go together with other empoyees for a gift. When you "gift" a boss if appears to be bribery, or brown-nosing.

?? i thought that you would get the gift for being there so long
a true good gift would be another 15 years...they are lucky to have you.
If have have a closer relationship i would think that a card would be sufficient
you are saying your employer not your employee right?

Give them a basket of survival items. Flashlight, Springwater ,their favorite choc. bar or snacks you remember them eating and a letter of acknowledgement , something very special they did for you, that they may not even realized how much it meant to you at the time, and of course. A gift certificate to their favorite restaurant for (2).
