OMG...two children later and I'm STILL getting up in the middle of the night to pee. :) I think something happens during pregnancy that forces you to wake up at least once a night, even when you're not pregnant anymore and your baby is sleeping through. Seriously, I can't tell you the last time I fell asleep at a decent hour, slept all night, then slept in in the morning. My younger son just turned 1 last weekend and he's been sleeping all night for about a month now. I can't though. Without fail, I'm up usually once a night to use the bathroom, check on the boys to make sure they're OK/covered up, etc. I don't think I'll ever sleep all night again! The only good thing about this is that I don't have problems falling back asleep, thank God. Once I know everything is OK, I'm out like a light.

You know what else is annoying? I was always a stomach sleeper before I had kids. Obviously you can't sleep on your stomach while you're pregnant (not later in pregnancy, anyway) so I got used to sleeping on my left side (better for your circulation and the baby) and now I can't sleep on my stomach anymore. I've tried and tried, and I hate it!

When I was 2.5 months pregnant with both of my boys, I was peeing constantly. I think the frequent urination at first is a result of your hormones going haywire, then later in pregnancy, it's because you have a 5, 6 7, 8 pound baby using your bladder as a trampoline. :) That's one thing that I do NOT miss about being pregnant. I carried both of my boys very low, and generally they were resting right ON my bladder. It was like having a bladder infection...no matter how often I peed, I still had the pressure/irritation from them sitting right there, and I constantly felt like I hadn't emptied my bladder, even though I had. A few days after pregnancy when you lose any excess fluid you may have been holding from being pregnant, the peeing stops...at least it did in my case. I'd go 3 or 4 hours and be like...wow, I haven't peed in ages!

I remember toward the end of my pregnancy going 6 times a night!!!I would also go to the guest bathroom on the other side of the house so I wouldn't wake my husband and then once there I only had to go a little bit!It sucked!!!It does train you for getting used to functioning on very little sleep. Also a fetus is most active at night when you are not and I would love feeling my daughter move about inside of me as I would drift back off to sleep.Congrats on the baby!!!!

almost 20 weeks now and I'm still getting up about 3 times a night...I have a cold that's keeping me up as well and my OB told me I can take Tylenol PM to help me sleep. I think last night was the first night in months I have slept all the way thru the night.

My wife gets up at least six times during the night. She's been pregnant four months! You aren't the only one who feels like the baby is using your bladder for a trampoline! Hang in there.

When I was pregnant with my daughter 8 years ago I did go to the bathroom an awful lot especially at night. It is normal just bear with your body. You are in the first trimester...it gets better....

I'm at 12 weeks and I can't stand it....Especially since I sleep downstairs and we are remodeling the bathroom down there so I have to walk all the way up stairs and get totally awake....IT SUCKS but I know it will be worth it when I see my beautiful child!!!!
