Usually the unrated has more nudity and cuss words but the overall movie is the same. Its the stuff they cut so that it could be shown in theaters.

You can't really say which is better. A movie being "unrated" which can sometimes imply racier content, just simply means that it was not submitted to the MPAA for an official rating. An "unrated" movie just means it wasn't judged by a room full of old guys.

The unrated version is the version before they cut out scenes to get the MPAA rating they wanted. Example violence or sexual content that might result in a Movie getting a NC-17 vs a R rating.

Unrated movies are ones that have not been presented to ratings board. Either they have not because they are afraid of the rating they will get so the will use name value to sell tickets/dvd. Also, sometimes they will add a scene back on the DVD that was not in the theatrical release. They use it as a sales gimic. And well, obviously the rated version has been presented to the ratings board.

Unrated mostly means that there is more graphic content such as nudity, violence.. ect. Rated just about means that what ever movie that happens to be rated G, R, PG, has more general content.
