Young folks can't choose who will rule them before 18 but are are old enough by law to risk pregnancy at 16?LR

Countries should raise the age of consent to reflect the seriousness of this decision to matters related to ,among others, world poverty, spread of HIV and to the less obvious rights of the unborn child who should be raised by 'able parents' [i.e. mature enough individuals who can provide proper guidance and who are not actually at an age where they should be enjoying their own childhood.

As far as raising the age of consent, all it does is make more people criminals. You can't legislate morality or good sense. Just doesn't work

Consent isn't an issue here.
Its not like humans have cards swipes built in to grant them access to sex when they are a certain age.

What about rape? What about cultural values of when a man becomes a man and woman a woman? Its in western nations that people have such high consent rates because people don't educate their young fast enough.

The biggest STD of youth is pregnancy because of a LACK OF EDUCATION. Why are you assuming that girls know that if they have sex they can get pregnant? You'd be surprised and shocked that there are people that DON'T KNOW and when you are dealing with this level of ignorance you can't combat it by just raising the damn consent level.

I'm don't mean to sound harsh.

If more youth were actually educated about what sex is, the consequences of sex, etc, etc, etc. - studies have found that they actually wait. Yes, they wait to have sex until they are mature. They know the biggest consequence of sex is death through a virus or death through giving birth. They take it seriously.

But raising the consent of age isn't going to do anything.

I've dealt with on my own my son being sexually molested by an adult male, but because my son was the age of consent, no charges can be filed. The guy drugged him and done it, but he walks free. He wasn't even old enough for a driver's license but old enough according to the sheriff to consent to sex under the influence.

American children are pampered by the courts and parents in spite of the fact that our laws reflect the idea that girls are basically breeders. No boy has to worry about getting pregnant, they aren't even required to marry the error of their ways till there of age. So, we need to change quite a few laws, haha, got any suggestions?

i saw a 9 year old marry a 40 year old man in india in an arranged marriage yuck! if thats their tradition then let them be, they think nothings wrong with it, who r we to judge whats right or wrong anyways.

Do you mean sex or abortion? Either way, it's their body and no one can tell them what to do with it. Please get over it. There are too many questions like this.
