Jen,

I doubt there is any "one" answer for this question. Some of the ones I can think off the cuff are:

1. Our society is filled with imagery that suggests sex at every opportunity. Men are inculcated with this, and think that women should be generally available for whatever they want.

2. Women who date men who will cheat sometimes are aware (involved with the man when he was dating someone else, etc.) that the man they are dating has the tendency to do it, and despite knowing this, continue (start) to date the man. The man is aware that the woman knows, and "hey, if she knows I am a cheating type, why is she mad at me?"

3. Some men truly have mad a mistake (drunk cheat, stupid heat of the moment), truly desire to be with you, and truly want forgiveness. They are angry not only with you, but with themselves because they think that their own actions will cause them to lose you.

4. Various other reasons of which I cannot conceive right now. :-)

If a relationship is good, with trust, honesty, respect, and giving (both ways), there should be no cheating. A lot of times it happens when the guy is "every woman's dream" -- you know, tall, dark, and handsome. They know that they are what every woman wants, so they have no need for true commitment. It is too easy for them to play the field.

It is really a sign of immaturity and somewhat of a lack of self-confidence. You would be better off with a guy who is a good father (if divorced), a good friend to others, a gentleman, and a romantic. Yes, he might not be 5'10 with a full head of curly hair (even if it is fake), but he is a real man. Also, pick midwestern guys -- we are the most genuine!

may be that particular man has issues but not all men are like that,
i am a man and i would never cheat,so the best thing i can say to you is you are cheating yourself by generalising.

Men don't do that, boys do it. Selfish, self-centered, immature boys. Try dating a Man, not a boy.
