Myers-Briggs personality typing.

It's pop psychology in that it measures some very fuzzy aspects of human nature. The official testing instrument (the MBTI) has a high error rate and the results aren't scientifically verifiable.

Nonetheless, many career counselors use Myers-Briggs personality typing as a way to match people to careers, and corporations often teach it at a simple level to managers if only to help them understand that employees don't all fit one mold and have to be managed flexibly.

It's most useful for addressing issues of compatibility (within relationships, or of people to careers), and it's a handy tool for figuring out how people tick in daily interactions--for example, what's driving their choice of values and priorities.

For me, it has demystified and explained many of the oddities of normal daily interactions, such as why I might immediately like or dislike a new acquaintance, or why some people are energized by certain tasks or environments while others find the same things burdensome and draining.

As such, it's a nice little tool for getting a better or quicker understanding of myself and people around me, albeit in a very fuzzy, generalized fashion. It's important not to rely too much on it and pigeon-hole people, however. Individuals routinely transcend their personality type, especially as they get older and adapt more to the world around them.
