I have found World Cup intriguing and want more information on the strategy and tactics so I can better understand what is happening. US broadcasts do not have folks who can illustrate (as they do re: the NFL) the basic strategies.

I understand your frustration. I've answered this question several times before. But now I just ignore it. I give up. Anybody who does not take the time to do a search on the internet to find out the origin of the word "soccer" is not going to listen to any explanation and will continue to blame the Americans for the different names. I'm from Asia living in the US. I use "soccer" and "football" interchangeably when I'm talking to my friends who understand what I'm talking about. It doesn't matter to me as long as we're talking about the same thing. Joga Bonito. Play beautiful.

also try getting a copy of the official fifa rule book, you'll learn a lot there, and it may be instrumental in trying to make up your own strategies after you have a firm grasp on the laws of the game. ANd if you want to save money, try googling it, and you should be able to find some resources for free.
