Yes. Many people can; it is called "lucidity." The best explanation I have ever heard is that, by assessing your situation, you make the logical determination that there is no way this can really be happening, and must be a dream. You then elect to stay in the dream and take control of it.
Have fun with it, my friend!

You can only control things so much. I have lived 43 years and my dreams and goals were "my dreams and goals" and because I never allowed God to be in control of things I have been disappointed quite often. My goals and dreams can only be reached when they are centered on what the Lord has for my life and then I can be truly happy.

THERE WAS A TIME WHEN I SLEPT ALL DAY LONG, THEN AND ONLY THEN WAS I ABLE TO CONTROL MY DREAMS. I COULD WAKE UP WITH A DREAM IN MY HEAD AND FALL BACK ASLEEP A FEW MINUTES LATER AND FINISH IT, OR AT LEAST CONTINUE IT UNTIL THE NEXT TIME I WOKE UP AND FELL BACK ASLEEP AGAIN. MY DREAMS WERE MORE VIVID THEN AS WELL. NOW THAT I WORK ALL THE TIME AND BARELY GET 7 HOURS OF SLEEP EACH NIGHT I FIND THAT MY DREAMS ARE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN AND WITH LESS INTENSITY.

I am ussually aware in my dreams and can sometimes control the events and the emotions I feel during the dream. If Im afriad I can sometime rationalize the fear away for example, or start to fly, or change size.

Do you mean except you or as well as you? To give AN answer, yes I can control my dreams to an extent. I can control certain variables and have majority control over my actions in my dreams.

Ahh ... Lucid dreaming. What a thing. Total control of the universe that is your subconcious. First realized how to do it when i was little. I simpily learned to wake myself up after a fit of nightmares when i was about six or seven. It snowballed from there.

I don't think so. You can control aspects of your dreams, but that is because you are coming out the Rapid Eye Movement state of sleep(Dreaming) and being unaware that you are actually sleeping, make a decision that you normally would.

You're not alone in this ability. It is not the easiest thing to do but extremely fun. I love being able to control what I do in my dreams and sometimes being able to control what kind of dream I have.

That ability is based off the ability to consciously tell the difference between the dream and reality. If you are aware that you are dreaming, then you can control what happens.
