You know, Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson? i love that book. Did anyone see the movie? what did you think of it? Have you read any of her other books?

I loved the book Speak. I thought it was very well written. It was at times very funny--her observations of high school life. Yet the book is serious as well. I think everyone would benefit (adults too) from reading it.

I enjoyed the movie Speak. I was very pleased to see it released on DVD as well.

I have read Catalyst and Prom. Both are good, but they're not great. If you're expecting another book as amazing or as powerful as Speak, you might be disappointed. If you're just comparing these books to other YA books then you'll be entertained. They do not deal with serious issues, they are lighter in tone. Therefore, if readers thought Speak was too heavy, they might be pleasantly surprised at the tone of her other novels.

But overall, I enjoy Anderson's works and consider her to be one of the best YA authors in the past decade.

I did like the book "Speak" a lot. I didn't know there was a movie. It was a sad reminder of what high school life is like, but it was very well written and I liked how the author showed the phases Melinda was going through and married them to the seasons. I was surprised to find myself laughing so much sometimes, but I liked the way the author used the humor to give the reader a better picture of what was going on.

I really enjoyed it. It was very dark, though, almost too much for my tastes. I didn't even know there was a movie!
