I'm pretty sure that screaming on a regular basis WOULD eventually damage your vocal chords .. even classical singers would damage their voice if they strain it.
I'm thinking that maybe taking some voice lessons and practising scales or something would strengthen your voice, and that doing a warm up of these voice exercises before you go out and scream?
Or maybe it's something like making a high falsetto and perhaps thats less of a strain. I don't really know. I'm half asleep and I'm just saying what comes into my mind. But then, most people don't know what they're saying here so I guess it's okay.
By the way, what is emo music??

Whenever singing is involved, you must must must sing from the diaphragm. NO OTHER WAY. Whispering is even worse than screaming for the vocal chords. I have nodules on my throat, because I'm a loud speaker and for many years I was singing incorrectly. But if you are going to continue as a singer who screams a lot, give your voice a rest and don't speak the next day, it will definitely help.

I think there's some kind of tea that actually coats your throat. u can check it out. U could also have cough drops. or some singers cup their cands around the microphone and their mouths, like a tunnel for sound. That way, they don't need to use as much 'force'. But you also have to practice at it to get the right pitch.

dono its just easier for some people than others, im the only of my freinds that can do the death/black metal growl/scream/roar. its tough. use your diaphram, get as much power and noise from deep inside you. if you ever wanna rasp it comes from the back of the throat. make sure and drink lots of water.

if you don't do some actual damage, then you're not really feeling the music, dude! art is sacrifice.

yell from your diaphragm so that you dont damage your vocal cords. that is what we do in cheerleading when we yell.
