It depends if you're looking for romantic novels or romance novels. Romantic novels, I'd recommend The Notebook, A Walk To Remember, Pride & Prejudice, and Gone With The Wind. (Anything Jane Austen really). If you're looking for romance novels...you're typical paperback romance novel genre...my favorite authors are Stephanie Laurens, Julia Quinn, and LaVyrle Spencer.

A great romantic novel is Noahic, by Shawn Hopkins. Romance may not be the main theme of this novel, but you'll be in awe of James, the main character. Trust me, you'll love this book.

I really like Nora Roberts. I expecially liked the "Irish Trilogy", the "Born in..." trilogy and the Stanislasky series. She also wrties as J.D. Robb which are very good romantic suspense novels set in the future. The romantic lead in those is really intriguing. Hope it helps. Happy reading.

The only N. Sparks books I like is A Walk to Remember. I think in general his writing stinks.
I'd recommend The Day of the Storm by Rosamund Pilcher
Also anything by Richard Paul Evans.

Danielle Steel, Mary Higgins Clark, Phyllis Whitney, and Catherine Coulter are some of my faves. Your local library can make a ton of suggestions. Nicholas Sparks is a great suggestion. Try an oldie, but goodie..."Love Story"...it's a classic.

"Katherine" by Anya Seton
"Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon
"Ride the Wind" by Lucia St. Clair Robson
None of these are strict "romance novels," they're historicals. (Well, actually Diana Gabaldon's books defy explanation. They're just good.) But the love story element is the heart and soul of each story.

a very old one, but one of my favorites is: ACTS OF FAITH by Eric Segal. He is the author of "love story". This is a very interesting novel about a catholic boy inlove with a jewish princess, and their lives together and apart. I am not giving it any service by writing about it. You should find it and read it. Guarranteed you won't put it down. It's a keeper.
Enjoy.
