The Oilers are gonna be in tough next year, but as long as their young players improve over the summer they could be awesome again. I think Ales Hemsky is gonna have a huge regular season...that kid is one of the most underrated players in the league. With Roloson coming back, they've solidified their goaltending.

I think they're gonna have to sign a solid, experienced defenseman in the offseason.

Also, if they can manage to keep Samsonov that would be huge as well.

I think the Lupul-Pronger deal is hard to evaluate right now. Lupul is still pretty young,so the benefits of this trade for the Oilers may take a couple years to pan out.

Even if they don't have a great season, let's hope they can squeak into the playoffs and have another huge run.

I think the it could go either way. On the one hand you have the loss of a stellar veteran in Pronger - and you can't just replace him... unless Ray Bourque unretires. ;) On the other hand, you have to remember the moves they made before the start of the playoffs, namely Rollie the Goalie. If Roloson is able to come back at the same level come the start of the season, the Oilers will be much better backstopped than they were during this season.

My prediction? They will make the playoffs, but will probably not see the Stanley Cup.

Probably suffer. With all the teams, free agents and fierce competition these days dynasties are a thing of the past. Even the Stanley Cup champs over the last years have not been there the following season. When you get to the finals you'd better make it good. You may be a long time getting another chance.
Notice baseball and other sports. Same story.
Ottawa is predictable. Another fine season and a choke in the playoffs.

The Oilers will have a tough time with the transition of a new team and well, a new corps of blueliners, but in the long run, the Oilers will be a dangerous team. They got Lopul and Smid from the Ducks and not to mention the 2 straight years of 2 first round picks but they also have a lot of young talent in Hemsky and Stoll and Roloson signed back with them so they have a solid goalie between the pipes, next year will be long for Oilers fans, but in the future they will be a very exciting team to watch out for.

As a Dallas fan, pre playoffs this season i was not an edmonton fan, but as the playoffs progressed, i was pulling for them to win it all! With that being said, I think they will suffer defensively unless Roloson has a run like he did to end last season. I think he'll be good but not as good. I always thought they under estimated him in Minnesota (its where i live) and i was upset to see him leave. Young players like hemsky will have to have another great year and Keeping samsonof will be huge. They'll be back in the playoffs

I think they were smart in dumping Laraque, he wasn't all that useful. It's a shame we don't have Pronger, but I think Lupil will do well in Edmonton. I think we'll be alright, we'll have a Stanley cup within five years. I hope....

i live in orange county and love pronger so i am so stoked to have him but oilers got a good kid in joffrey lupol. kid can play, no doubt about that. only player in nhl history to score 4 goals in a post season game. sometimes it is best to start fresh ya know. you never know for sure what will happen....that's why they play the games!

Oiler's don't have to worry about their Goalie and forwards but their defence might be weak...
They need some good players who can help Roloson...

they can get a few more players still. They have quite a bit of room money wise. If they can get a good defenceman or 2 they have a good shot at the cup.

I don't see them winning the division because of the loss of those two players, but you never know in hockey these days.
