I heard, that after caucasian people get wet (without soap or anything) they have a funny odor... I'm part white so I'm not being racist, but I just wanted to know if that is true or just a myth... Thanks....

No it isn't a racist question, I didn't mean it out of racism. I was asking to know if it's true, and maybe that could happen to white people. How is it racist if I'm part white? I know what racist is, and it when you are judging someone because of race and I wasn't doing that. You are ignorant...

I asked that question because I was curious and maybe it could be true, you know? I don't agree with people saying that. If I asked "Do black people have thicker hair?" that's not racist because it could be true, and it could be a proven fact... Well, I didn't know if it was a myth or not, and yes, I didn't know and I wasn't asking to be mean...

I think so, but so do dogs and cats and birds. It's the water not the race that does it.

As an aside, right after World War II, the Japanese were asked what was the most offensive thing about Americans. They replied their smell. Seems like they could smell the meat we eat and it stunk to them. Weird huh?

to be honest back in the middle ages when soap was not readly avaiable everyone stunk...this is the main reason they created purfume...they use to bring in fragant trushes(straw) ever nite 1 to get rid of the bugs (ie bed bugs bitting) & help get rid of the odor from the days work. bathing back then was though to lead to illness everyone was scared of water... I am so glad we have come a long way from that...
every person gives off body odor some more than others & race doesn't have a thing to do with it...it is a myth that only caucasian have a funny odor after getting wet....the only way for that statement to be ture i it is was changed to the entire race of man can give of an ordor when wet....lol

I dont think your question was racist, just kind of ignorant. every person has a smell. you can probably smell someone who has a different smell then you more easily because it's something new. people who have different genes would probably smell different. being wet probably makes anyone easier to smell.
by the way "How is it racist if I'm part white?" it doesn't matter what race you are even if you are the race you are being racist towards, they call people who do that Uncle Toms.

Body odor is not determined by race, sugar, but by diet, health and cleanliness. Wet white folks smell about like wet black folks who smell about like wet Asian folks, providing they are all eating the same stuff and took baths this morning.
Cheers.
Oh, and yes, it is a racist question. Look up "racism" some time and you'll see why.

After people get wet, if it the water is hot, their pores open up and the sweat gland tries to clean out the body. If you don't cool off be for getting out (close the pores) you will smell.

And Grendel, she meant that this question is not meant to be racist... but asking any question about an urban legand falls into your category of "racist"

I'm Caucasian but I can't say I've noticed, lol. No offense taken!

:)

There is a difference between curiosity, misinformation, unintentional (mild at the least!)racism and blatant racial hate! If we cannot ask questions, how can one clear up misinformation!? Come now, this is HARDLY a racist question in the non technical sense!

I think it is partly true. Without going into gross details lets just say I have first hand experience. Of course if a person uses body soap in the first place they dont have that problem.

Vice Versa.

It's a stereotype. When I was a kid, someone once told me that all black people smelled like cocoa butter when they got wet.

I suppose I smell like my fabric softener and my hair conditioner when I get wet...which smell pretty nice!

My kid is half black and she smells the same as me...unless she's been running around outside in the heat all day..then she smells like she needs a shower, just like any other kid!

I think what she's saying/asking is white people smell like a wet dog when they get wet...truth is that it depends on the person. What stinks is when white people dont wash their hair and THEN they get wet in the rain or something. Thats what smells like wet dog...Im white...but I dont smell when I get wet. :)
