in the UK each county council has a FREE wasp nest removal programme, just call them.

When you see the wasps, spray them with hairspray. This way they won't be able to keep the nest going because they won't be able to fly. After awhile, the queen bee (or wasp, I guess in this case) will either die or leave the nest, prompting the others to leave as well. I once caught a queen bee out of its nest for some reason and I didn't have bees in my yard for the rest of the summer! Good luck!

Don't go about it yourself, get in someone who knows how to handle a wasps nest, if you go about it and don't manage to complete the job, i.e. just disturb them, they may go and make a new nest, and guess where the favourite place is, the eaves of your house, that would mean the attic, and then THAT could be DANGEROUS, so get in professional help. local council will help.

wait til the evening or early morning when its dark and they are asleep.
wear long sleeves, gloves, hat, mosquito net - basically cover yourself leaving NO exposed skin.. get a special wasp and nest destroying spray (they have extra long range) and NUKE them, spray thouroughly, kill them all - then remove the nest.
REMEBER, when enraged they can sting you and continue to stinkg you - so wait til they are asleep!
EDIT:
ps. apparently, after you have removed the nest if you place a brown paper bag in its spot, wasps will mistake it for a bigger wasp nest and stay away! (heh heh, stupid wasps)

If you are over 65 your council pest service will do it for nothing, if you are on any kind of assistance I believe that is also free, but the poor and hard working are charged, I think ! Ring your council on Monday, there certainly won't be anyone there after 4:00 pm on Friday.

you can get wasp killer powder from your local diy store.
just sprinkle some on the nest, and the wasps carry it in and everyone dies.

In the UK, call your local council and they will remove it for free (well mine does!). Everywhere else, call pest control. Do not, whatever you do, burn it or put gasoline on it. You will only make the wasps mad and then you will be for it...

Take your vacume cleaner hose and attache a long pvc pipe and tape it as such. Then turn it on and point it to the nest and suck them all up and it is over becasue the impeller will kill them as they take their final journey into Hoover Country.

Phone your local council and get an expert out; don't mess with it yourself! Its the same department that deal with rats, but they're really busy this time of year.
Or look in the phone book under 'pest control'.

well, you have to wait until after dark, when they are all at home in their nest and then spray them with Raid (the special one for wasps and hornets) and then RUN!!!
