My XL shirt shrink really badly. The shirt is made out of cotton. Is there a way to bring it back to its normal size? Also how do you prevent clothes from shrinking.

Be careful when you try stretching it back. Use warm water to wet it, it will work easier, make the fibers looser. Try to make sure you get the parts all even! You might want to use another shirt as a template to stretch on top of.

To keep this from happening again, look for preshrunk shirts. Wash only in cold or warm water, and if you use the dryer, dry on low or medium only, not hot, and for short time only.

Unfortunately there is no way to "unshrink" something that has shrunk, you may try to stretch it out by hand if it is made of a material like cotton. The best way to prevent shrinkage is to hang dry on the line or a hanger.

I agree with Kristine. Hang dry it. Since it already shrank I would wash it again (don't dry it) or just get the shirt wet and pull it carefully, trying to stretch it out. I have done that with Cotten T-shirts and they usually come back to the correct size.

you cant undo. yet to help avert is to place your outfits on a line to dry. its the dryer that particularly shrinks and fades colours so get some rope dangle it on your basement and dangle up your outfits to dry.
