I have a Radeon 9550 256mb AGP video card. Recently my drivers got f'ked up and I tried reinstalling my video card drivers (catalyst software) and it fails saying I need standard VGA drivers first. Well I want to repair the install but can't because the disc isn't working. I can't find a download on the net (doesn't exist), Microsoft and ATI refuse to acknowledge the problem.
SOO.. my last two options are find an older version of catalyst, say v 4.11 ? (which is becoming hard to do) OR try and steal the drivers from another Windows install (which hasn't worked yet).

I wish it was that easy. It doesn't show up in my hardware profile at all. No display adapters and I can't add it because I can't install it and even if I choose to add hardware its not in the list nor is there an option for any sort of standard vga stuff.

Also any links I get, such as yours, tell me that that is an unauthorized download on ATI's website. I haven't found a link yet for 4.11 I can make work.

Thanks for all the tips: heres some feedback:
I have NO display adapter displayed in my hardware profile so I can't uninstall driver or do anything related to that. For some reason windows doesn't realize it's video drivers are messed up and won't fix itself.
I tried uninstalling the software (I should have known to do that from start) but it didn't help anything or fix any problems.
I installed the 4.11 (thanks for link) hoping it would work and guess what, it tells me to install a standard vga driver first before it installs.
How lame of a software package.. ! Can't beleive they couldnt' at least bundle a little vga driver to install itself in absence of one.
